Jen-Fa Huang received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Ottawa, Ottawa, ON, Canada, in 1981 and 1985, respectively. Since 1991, he has been a Faculty Member of the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan, where he works currently as an Adjunct Professor at the Institute of Computer and Communication Engineering and at the Institute of Optoelectronic Science and Engineering. Prior to 1991, he was with MPB technologies, Montreal, QC, Canada, in the Optical Communication Laboratories working on the TAT-9 transatlantic undersea light-wave transmission project. His current research interests include optical communications, all-optical data networking, and fiber-grating-based optical sensors.
