Chiyu Zhang received his B.S. degree in biotechnology from Henan Normal University, Xinxiang, China, in 1998. He completed his Ph.D. thesis at Kunming Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Kunming, China, and received his Ph.D. degree in zoology from the Graduate School of CAS, Beijing, China, in 2003. Zhang served as a Lecturer at School of Medical Technology (2003–2006) and an Associate Professor at the Institute of Life Sciences (2006–2012), Jiangsu University, Zhenjiang, China. He joined Pathogen Diagnostic Center, Institut Pasteur of Shanghai, CAS, Shanghai, China, in 2012 as a Professor. His research interests include epidemiology of infectious diseases, coevolution of viruses and their hosts, and development of new diagnostic approaches for infectious diseases. Zhang has served as an Editorial Board Member of for several journals (e.g., PLoS ONE and the World Journal of Clinical Infectious Diseases).
