Ravishankar Ramachandran

Dr. Ravishankar Ramachandran secured the Ph.D degree from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (http://mbu.iisc.ernet.in) and later received the Alexander von Humboldt fellowship (http://www.avh.de) to work in the lab of the Nobel Laureate Prof. Robert Huber at Max-Planck Institute for Biochemistry, Germany (http://www.biochem.mpg.de). He subsequently established a vibrant structural biology group in CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute, India where he has been working since the end of 2002 (http://www.cdriindia.org/ravishankar.htm). His group works mainly on proteins from human pathogens like M. tuberculosis and P. falciparum and elucidates their molecular mechanisms using a variety of modern techniques including X-ray crystallography. The knowledge is translated by computational techniques to identify potential therapeutic leads.
