Roberto Franco received his D.S. degree in applied physics from the University of São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil, and his M.S. and B.S. degrees in physics from the Universidade Federal de Goiás, Goiás, Brazil. He works as an Associate Professor at the State University of North Fluminense (UENF) and Assessor of courses at the National Assessment System of Higher Education. Franco is an expert in condensed matter physics, with emphasis on electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) in study of materials as mineral, glass, polymer composites, catalysts, and foods. Currently, he is working on application of EPR in the study of fabrication of archaeological potteries. Franco serves as a Member of the Sociedade Brasileira de Física, Sociedade Brasileira para o Progresso da Ciência, International EPR (ESR) Society, and The Society for Archaeological Sciences.
