Zhigang Deng

Zhigang Deng was born in Jiangxi, China, in 1977. He received the B.S. degree in mathematics from Xiamen University, China, in 1997 and an M.S. degree in computer science from Peking University, China, in 2000. Afterwards, he received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from University of Southern California, in 2004 and 2006, respectively. Since 2006, he is with the Department of Computer Science in University of Houston at USA. Presently, he is an Assistant Professor. He had also worked in the Founder R&D Center (Beijing, China) and AT&T Shannon Research Lab for a short period in 2000 and 2006, respectively. He is mainly interested in computer graphics, computer animation, interactive media/gaming, human computer interaction, and visual-haptic interfacing for medical computing. He is a recipient of Google Faculty Research Award, Nokia Open Innovation Research Award, Texas Norman Hackerman Advanced Research Award, and UH CS Faculty Academic Excellent Award. He has served in the technical program committees of numerous conferences in computer graphics, animation, social agents including Eurographics, IEEE Virtual Reality, ACM/Eurographics Symposium on Computer Animation, Pacific Graphics, International Conference on Intelligent Virtual Agents, IEEE Conference on Computer Animation and Social Agents, and so forth. He is an Associate Editor of ACM Computer in Entertainment and International Journal of Image and Graphics.
