Angel L. Ortiz

University of Extremadura, Spain

Prof. Ortiz received a B.Sc., a M.Sc., and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Extremadura (Spain) in 1998, 1999 and 2002, respectively. The University of Extremadura awarded him the Excellence Prize to Ph.D. Theses in January 2003. He also obtained an M.Sc. in Ceramics Engineering from the same University in 2002. Since 2009 he hold a position of Associate Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Extremadura. Prof. Ortiz's research interests are in the broad areas of synthesis/processing, characterization, and properties of advanced ceramic materials (bulks, coatings, and thin films), as well as in theory and applications of X-ray diffractometry for the characterization of materials and for determining crystal structures. He is also active in surface severe plastic deformation and carbon materials.
