Nejat Akar

Nejat Akar, a holder of an M.D. degree, works with the Department of Pediatrics, TOBB-Economy Technical University Hospital. Akar graduated from the Medical School, Ankara University, 1977 and completed the residency at the Pediatrics Department of Ankara University, 1982. Akar was an Associate Professor, 1989 and was a Professor, 1995. Akar studied in Cagliari, Sardinia (molecular genetics of B thalassemia), 1984 and 1988 and at the NCI, NIH, Bethesda, Md, USA (the EBV genotyping), 1990-1991. Akar received the Research Award from the Turkish Scientific and Research Council, 1989, the Prof.Dr.Bahtiyar Demirag Research Award, 1999, and the Ankara University Research Award, 2000. Akar published the following books: (1) A Pediatrician in Anatolia (Ord. Prof. Dr. Albert Eckstein), 2008, 3rd Edition scheduled (Gürer publication); (2)Clinical Molecular Pathology, 2nd Edition, May 1999; (3) 15 years with Prof.Eckstein in Anatolia (with Alp Can) (in English), A photography Book, 2005; (4) A woman Surgeon in Igdir (biography) (in Turkish), 2005; (5) New York World Fair 1939 and Turkey (in Turkish), 2005; (6) A Pediatrician: Prof.Bahtiyar Demirag (biography) (in Turkish), 2005; (7) Bir Insanlk Görevi: Dumlupinar (in Turkish), 2008; (8) Mother and Child Sculptures, photography book (with Alp Can), 2007; (9) Genome Project and Turkish Press (in Turkish), 2007; (10) Anatolian Notes-1937 (in Turkish), 2008. He is a Member of the Editorial Board of THROMBOSIS RESEARCH, starting from 2001 and 2011. He also a Member of OPEN NITRIC OXIDE journal, starting from 2008. Akar is also a Member of the Editorial Board of the Turkish J Medical Sciences, Turkish Journal of Hematology, and Egyptian Journal of Human Medical Genetics.
