Oladis Troconis de Rincon
Oladis Troconis de Rincon is the Director of the Centro de Estudios de Corrosión at the Universidad del Zulia, Venezuela, where she is Doctor Honoris Causa. She obtained her degree in chemical engineering from the same university, the M.S. degree in chemical engineering at The University of Oklahoma (USA) and her Ph.D. degree in basic and applied electrochemistry at the Universidad de Los Andes (Venezuela). She is a Fellow of NACE International and individual number XXXII in the Academy of Engineering and Habitat, Venezuela. Even though she has been doing research work in different areas, especially applied to the solution of problems in the national oil industry, her major areas of research are corrosion in reinforced concrete structures and atmospheric corrosion. Later, she was the Venezuelan Cocoordinator in MICAT and Coordinator in PATINA, projects sponsored by CYTED. Since then, she has been studying the impact of tropical environments on the performance of organic and metallic coatings (particularly on galvanized and thermosprayed steel).
