Sven Wedemeyer-Bohm received his Ph.D. degree in astronomy from the University of Kiel, Germany, in 2003. From 2003 to 2006, he served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Kiepenheuer Institute for Solar Physics, Germany. He was awarded a Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowship by the European Union in 2006 and is since affiliated with the Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics at the University of Oslo, Norway. Currently, he leads two projects granted by the Research Council of Norway on the magnetic activity of cool stars and on small-scale processes in the solar and cool stellar atmospheres. His research focuses on numerical 3D MHD simulations in direct comparison to observations of the atmospheres of the sun and cool stars, including aspects like solar and stellar activities and their influence on planets.
