Paola Vittorioso received a degree in biology (summa cum laude) from Sapienza University of Rome in 1986. In 1988, she got a fellowship from the Institut Pasteur-Fondazione Cenci Bolognetti to work at the Institut Pasteur, Paris, Unitè de Biochemie Microbienne. She received the Ph.D. degree in 1994 from Sapienza University of Rome. She was awarded for the best Ph.D. thesis by the Institut Pasteur-Fondazione-Cenci Bolognetti. She was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the INRA-Versailles (1994-1997). Since 1999, she serves as a Researcher at Sapienza University of Rome. She is mainly interested in the functional analysis of Dof transcription factors in A.thaliana. She has been working as a Coordinator of the UE network REGIA. She has been Italian Representative of the MASC (2002-2008), a Member of the Committee of the SIBBM (2002-2006), and a Member of the committee of FISV (2003-2006). She works as a University Lecturer of the recombinant DNA technologies course.
