User Biography : Prof Antonio Coca Antonio Coca is a Professor of internal medicine, Senior Consultant, Chief of the Hypertension Unit, and Director of the Institute of Medicine and Dermatology at the Hospital Clinic, School of Medicine, University of Barcelona, Spain. He obtained both his M.D. and his Ph.D. degrees from the University of Barcelona School of Medicine, Spain. He has been designated in 2013 as the Officer-at-Large of the Scientific Council of the European Society of Hypertension. Since 2010, Coca has been a Member of the Nucleus of the Working Group on Hypertension and the Heart of the European Society of Cardiology, and he was elected as a Vice-Chair of the Working Group in 2012. In 2007, he was elected as a Member of the Scientific Council of the European Society of Hypertension, where he was responsible for the relationships with Latin America. He has previously served as a Research Associate Professor at the Laboratory of Cardiovascular Physiology and Pharmacology, INSERM, CNRS, Necker Hospital, Paris, France, and he is the Former President of the Spanish Society of Hypertension, an Honorary Member of the Latin American Society of Hypertension, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London, UK. Professor Coca has been the recipient of many research grants from Spanish research institutes, scientific societies, and the pharmaceutical industry from 1982 to the present. He is an editor or coeditor of 52 books on various topics within the field of hypertension, and he has published more than 270 papers and has presented more than 300 invited lectures at international and national meetings and universities. Furthermore, he has been a steering committee member, as well as the Spanish coordinator, of several large-scale international trials on hypertension.
