Hassan Obied obtained his B.pharm. degree with honours in 2000 at Tanta University, Egypt. He earned his Ph.D. degree at Charles Sturt University, Australia, in 2007. Afterwards, he continued as a Postdoctoral Fellow with Phenol Research Group till 2008. He joined the School of Biomedical Sciences at CSU as a Lecturer in pharmacology in 2008. Based on his research and teaching achievements, Dr. Obied has been promoted to Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor in the American system) in pharmacology in 2011. He was nominated in 2010 and 2011 amongst the top 10 lecturers of the year at CSU according to the survey conducted by UniJobs, Australia. His research interfaces chemistry, pharmacology, and food science with chief interest in plant phenols (biophenols) and their health attributes. Dr. Obied has established the Antioxidant Research Group (ARG) in 2011 to investigate the role that biophenol antioxidants can play in prevention and treatment of chronic diseases such as Alzheimer’s, diabetes, and cancer. His research manuscripts are published in prestigious peer-reviewed journals, invited book chapters, and books. Dr. Obied has successfully supervised seven research students and is currently supervising seven more students. He is continuously encouraging and supporting outstanding national/international researchers to join or collaborate with his research group.
