Stein Sture received his Ph.D. degree in civil engineering in 1976. His areas of expertise include computational mechanics, constitutive modeling of geomaterials and cementitious materials, and fracture mechanics. Broad areas of solid mechanics and computational modeling of structures and structure-media interaction are also among his fields of expertise. He currently serves as Vice Chancellor of Research at the University of Colorado Boulder, Boulder, Colo, USA. He recently served as Interim Provost, and, between 2005 and 2008, he also served as Dean of the Graduate School of the same university.
