Domenico M. D'Ugo
Domenico M. D'Ugo was Born in Rome, Italy, in 1957. In 1981, he graduated (cum laude) in medicine and surgery. D'ugo received Italian Board of General Surgery Qualification (Specialist Dyploma) in 1986. He was full-time employed at “A.Gemelli” University Hospital, Rome, Italy. In 1994, he received the Italian Board of Thoracic Surgery Qualification (Specialist Dyploma), and in 1996, the European Board of Surgery Qualification (Specialist Dyploma). He became an Associate professor of Surgery (2nd step University title) in 2000, and in the same year he was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). In 2002, D'ugo became First Chief Surgeon and Director of Surgical Oncology at the Center for High Technology in Biomedicine at the Catholic University at Campobasso, Italy. In 2006, he was a Full Professor of Surgery (3rd step University title) and appointed for the Chair of General Surgery at the Catholic University of Rome. D'Ugo has been a Visiting Scientist of the University of Aarhus, Aarhus, Denmark, a Visiting Fellow in surgery at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, Pa, USA, a Visiting Fellow in thoracic surgery at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, California, USA, a Visiting Fellow in laparoscopic surgery at Georgia Baptist College, Atlanta, Ga, USA. He is a Member of Societa' Italiana di Chirurgia SIC, International Gastric Cancer Association IGCA, European Society of Surgical Oncology, and the American College of Surgeons ACS. He is also a Board Member of the Italian Society of Surgical Oncology (SICO) and of the Italian Chapter of the America College of Surgeons. D'Ugo's research activity is testified by 210 published papers overall, including in extenso papers on peer-reviewed Italian and International journals (165), selected congress abstracts (36), book chapters (11), posters, and video-tapes.
