Endalkachew Sahle-Demessie

Endalkachew Sahle-Demessie is a Senior Scientist at the US Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Research and Development, National Risk Management Research Laboratory. He has received his M.S. degree (1989) and Ph.D. degree (1994) in chemical engineering from Oregon State University, USA. His research interests include developing clean technologies including advanced oxidation technologies for air and water treatment, environmental catalysis, green chemistry, implication of nanomaterials on the environment, and designing and developing of hazardous waste treatment processes. Sahle-Demessie holds three US patents and he has authored or coauthored over 82 articles in refereed technical journals, 48 conference proceedings and book chapters, and more than 150 presentations. He has received several awards including the 2003 Individual Achievement Awards, the 2004 IGERT Award, multiple EPA’s Science and Technology Achievement Awards, the 2009 US EPA, the NRMRL Honor Awards, and 2010, and 2011 the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Path Forward Innovative Project awards.
