Gamhewage Chaminda de Silva

Gamhewage Chaminda de Silva completed his B.S. degree in computer engineering at the University of Moratuwa, Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, in 1996 and served as a Lecturer at the same university until 2001. He received his M.Eng. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the National University of Singapore, Kent Ridge, Singapore, in 2003 and his Ph.D. degree in frontier informatics from the University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan, in 2007. He worked as a Researcher at Media Information Sciences Laboratory of ATR International, Kyoto, Japan, in 2003 and 2004. Currently, he works as a Research Fellow at the Intelligent Modeling Laboratory of the University of Tokyo. His research interests are in multimedia analysis and retrieval, user interaction strategies for multimedia retrival, vision-based human computer interaction, and new interfaces for musical expression. He is a Member of the IEEE Computer Society and has served as a Technical Reviewer for the IEEE Computer Magazine and IEEE Transactions in Multimedia.
