Amit Kale was born in Bhusaval, India in 1974. He received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Victoria Jubilee Technical Institute affiliated to the University of Mumbai; his M.S. degree of technology in systems and control engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay; his Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the Center of Automation Research, University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland, USA in 1996, 1998, and 2003, respectively. From 2003 to 2007, Kale was a Research Scientist at the Center for Visualization and Virtual Environments at the University of Kentucky. Since 2007, he has been managing the Imaging Laboratory, Siemens Corporate Research and Technology, Bangalore, India. His research interests span aspects of image-understanding spanning domains, such as human motion analysis, object detection, medical imaging, machine learning, and signal processing. Kale has been the recipient of the Best Poster Award at BMVC 2005. He was the Program Cochair of the Workshop on Multimodal Sentient Computing in 2007. Kale is a Regular Reviewer of vision conferences including CVPR, ECCV, and ICCV.
