Kamel Benlagha obtained a Ph.D. degree in immunology from Université Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris, France) in 1997. He joined in 1998 the group of Albert Bendelac as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Princeton University, Princeton, NJ, USA, to work on natural killer T (NKT) cells. In 2003 Benlagha was appointed as an Instructor at the University of Chicago, Chicago, Ill, USA. In 2005 he was appointed as a Senior Scientist at the French institute Inserm. The main focus of his group is the study of the biology of NKT cells in normal and autoimmune/inflammatory conditions in mice and humans.
