Robert A. Schoonheydt
Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium
Robert Schoonheydt is an Emeritus professor at Department M2S, Centrum voor Oppervlaktechemie en Katalyse, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Heverlee, Belgium. From August 1994 to January 1998, he was the Head of the Department of Interphase Chemistry, then till July 2004, he was the Dean of the Faculty of Agronomy and Applied Biological Sciences, and became the Vice-Dean of Education till 2007. His research interests include minerals-absorbed dye molecules with nonlinear optical properties: from suspensions to films, basicity of zeolites, bionanocomposites involving proteins and clay minerals, structure-activity relationships by a combination of in situ spectroscopy, catalysis, and experimental design techniques, as well as spectroscopic fingerprinting of transition metal ions at surfaces: chemometrics and ab initio quantum mechanical computations.
