Harald Walderhaug was born in Norway in 1956. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Bergen, Norway, in 1980, and his Ph.D. degree from Lund University, Sweden, in 1985. After having served as a Teacher at a local engineering college in Norway, he returned to academia at the University of Oslo as a Research Associate, in 1990. Since 1995, he has been appointed an Associate Professor in colloidal chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, University of Oslo. Since 2005, he has served as a Full Professor in the same area at the same place. His research interests include physical chemistry, dynamics, rheology, and NMR spin relaxation and self-diffusion in colloidal systems in general and, more specifically, in organized liquid systems, including micellar solutions, microemulsions, and polymer gels. He has also served for many years as a Secretary General for the Norwegian Chemical Society and is still active with this task.
