Frank Griesinger works as the Director of the Department of Hematology and Oncology at the Pius Hospital and Lecturer at the University of Göttingen, Göttingen, Germany, and will hold a Professorship in oncology at Carl University of Oldenburg, Oldenburg, Germany, starting from April 2013. After a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minn, USA, in molecular and cellular biology, he was trained in internal medicine and hematology and oncology at the Universities of Frankfurt, Muenster, and then Göttingen. Griesinger initially treated a wide range of tumors including leukaemia, lymphoma, and solid tumors, but focussed and specialized in the treatment of lung tumors over the last 15 years. He has been active in Phase II and III trials in lung cancer and has done especially studies in the neoadjuvant setting. Dr. Griesinger is a Member of ASCO, ASH, IASLC, and the steering committee of the Thoracic Oncology Group of the AIO in Germany. Dr. Griesinger has further research interests in the treatment of molecular subgroups of lung cancer. He is currently very involved in introducing molecular stratified treatments in the lung cancer in Germany and is the 1st author of guidelines of the German Society of Hematology and Oncology for the treatment of non-small-lung cancer.
