Julian T. Parer
Julian T. Parer is a Professor of obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive sciences at the Division of Perinatal Medicine and Genetics, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science, University of California, San Francisco, Calif, USA. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from Oregon State University, Corvallis, Ore, USA, in 1965, and his M.D. degree from the University of Washington, Seattle, Wash, USA, in 1971. Parer's other certifications include a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology in 1976; a Diplomate of Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology; and a Voluntary Recertification from General and Maternal-Fetal Medicine Boards in 1995. He has been an Interim Director at the Division of Perinatal Medicine and Genetics, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, University of California at San Francisco between 1999 and 2002 and a Special Consultant at the Center for Devices and Radiological Health, Food and Drug Administration (since 2003). In addition, he received several honors and awards including Phi Kappa Phi Award, Oregon State University, in 1963; Phi Sigma Award (biology), Oregon State University, in 1964; Seattle Gynecology Society Annual Student Award, in 1970; John J. Bonica Annual Student Award (anesthesiology) in 1971; Resident Teaching Award, Academic Faculty, UCSF, in 1999; Resident Teaching Award, Academic Faculty, UCSF, in 2007. His main areas of interest are fetal responses to asphyxia, the circulation and oxygen transport in pregnancy, clinical fetal monitoring, and high-risk pregnancy.
