Zhiping Luo is an Associate Professor of physics and electron microprobe facility manager, Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville, NC, USA. He works in the areas of material structures mainly using electron microscopy, correlating with their properties. He received his Ph.D. degree from the Chinese Aeronautical Establishment in 1994, and then he worked as a Research Engineer Principle Investigator at Beijing Institute of Aeronautical Materials, China. From 1996 to 1997, he spent two years in Okayama University of Science, Japan, as a Postdoctoral Researcher to study transmission electron microscopy techniques with Professor Hatsujiro Hashimoto. In 1998, he moved to Materials Science Division, Argonne National Laboratory, as a Visiting Scholar and was then promoted to the post of an Assistant Scientist. During 2001 to 2012, he worked at Texas A&M University as a Research Scientist of the Microscopy and Imaging Center and as a Graduate Faculty Member of the Materials Science and Engineering Program.
