Clifford A. Shaffer received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Maryland, MD, USA. He is a professor in the Department of Computer Science at Virginia Tech, VA, USA. His current research interests include computational biology and bioinformatics, problem solving environments, digital education, algorithm visualization, visualization, hierarchical data structures, geographic information systems, computer graphics, algorithm design and analysis, and data structures. He currently holds the position of senior member of ACM and IEEE.
