Nina Ivanovska was born in Bulgaria, in 1958. She received M.S. degree from the University of Sofia “St. Kliment Ohridsky”, Faculty of Biology in 1981 and the Ph.D. degree from the Russian Medical Academy of Science, Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, Moscow in 1987. From 1987 to 1995, Ivanovska was a Research Scientist in the Institute of Microbiology, Bulgaria and then an Associate Professor until 2009. Presently, she serves as a Professor with a D.S. degree in the Institute of Microbiology and Head of the Department of Immunology. Her current research interests are in the field of immunomodulation; anti-infectious resistance; Candida albicans infections, sepsis and arthritis. She has guided a number of Ph.D. students and she has been a Coordinator of some international and national projects. She is a member of the Editorial Board of The Open Veterinary Science Journal.
