Mauro Zaffaroni was born in 1956. He received his degree in medicine in 1981 from the University of Milano, Milano, Italy, and completed his residency at this university, where in 1985 he received his qualifications as a Neurologist. Since 1983, he works as a Full-Time Neurologist at the Gallarate Hospital. Zaffaroni is Chief of the Multiple Sclerosis Center in Gallarate (currently under the scientific direction of Professor G. Comi) where he has in charge of more than 1500 MS patients. Since 2003, he serves as an Adjunct Professor of neuroimmunology and neuroimmunopharmacology at the School of Medicine of the University of Insubria in Varese. Zaffaroni acts as a referee for both Italian and British Multiple Sclerosis Societies. His medical and scientific interests range from neuroimmunological aspects of pathogenesis and treatment of MS to clinical research and therapeutical trials in multiple sclerosis.
