Kuo-Chen Wei received his medical degree from Chung Shan Medical University, Taichung, Taiwan, in 1985. Then, Dr. Wei completed his residency and served as full-time attending physician since 1993 at the Department of Neurosurgery, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Linkuo Branch, Taiwan. By showing great interest in molecular biology of brain tumors, he went to USA and was trained as a post-M.D. degree Research Fellow at the Brain Tumor Research Center, University of California, San Francisco from 1997 to 2001. Going back to Taiwan, Dr. Wei has launched several research projects searching for specific biomarkers of gliomas, from transcriptome to proteome. In addition, Dr. Wei has initiated a series of programs of novel drug delivery system for brain tumor treatment, in collaboration with experts in the electric engineering and nanomedicine since 2006. Dr. Wei and the team have published over 12 papers related to the previous topics since 2012. At present, Dr. Wei is the chief of the Department of Neurosurgery and the Chief of the Brain Tumor Therapeutic team at the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Linkuo Branch. Also, he takes several administrative appointments as the Member of Tissue Bank Committee in Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Linkuo Branch, the Secretary General of Taiwan Society for Neuro-Oncology, and the Board Member of Directors in both the Taiwan Society for Stereotactic Functional Neurosurgery and the Radiosurgery and Taiwan Neurospinal Society. After devoting himself for neurosurgery for more than 20 years, he still shows zeal for caring about his patients and finding out the secrets about brain tumors.
