Klaus Hackl

Klaus Hackl obtained the Ph.D. degree from the RWTH Aachen University, Germany, 1989 and the venia legendi (Habilitation) in mechanics from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the University of Technology, Graz, Austria, 1997. Professor Hackl completed an A.v. Humboldt Research Fellowship at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, the University of Delaware, Newark, Delaware, USA, between 1989 and 1992. He was an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the University of Technology, Graz, Austria, from 1992 to 1997, an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the University of Technology, Graz, Austria, throughout the years from 1997 till 1999. Since 1999, Professor Hackl has been a Full Professor of mechanics at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, the Ruhr-University Bochum. Professor Hackl's research interests are continuum mechanics, numerical mechanics, modeling of materials, multiscale problems, microstructures, inelasticity, and phase transformations.
