Weidong Chen

Weidong Chen received his B.S. degree and his M.S. degree in control engineering in 1990 and 1993, respectively, and a Ph.D. degree in mechatronics in 1996, all from the Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, China. Since 2005, he has been a professor of the Department of Automation at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China, and Director of the Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Information Processing. He is the founder of the Autonomous Robot Laboratory. From 2003 to 2004, he was a visiting Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Ohio State University, OH, USA. Chen's current research interests include autonomous robotics, assistive robotics, collective robotics, and control of mechatronic systems.
