Amir Mirmiran

Amir Mirmiran is a Professor and Interim Dean at the College of Engineering and Computing at Florida International University. Dr. Mirmiran has also served on the faculty at the University of Central Florida, 1993–1998; University of Cincinnati; 1998–2001; and North Carolina State University, 2001–2004. He also served as Director of Technical Services for the Constructed Facilities Laboratory and Director of Center for Infrastructure Renewal and Protection at North Carolina State University, 2002-2004. Dr. Mirmiran has practiced as a Professional Engineer for over 8 years. His research area is structural engineering with emphasis on high performance concrete and composites. He holds two US patents on advanced composite systems, 1997 and 2000. He has published over 70 refereed journal papers and 100 conference papers and technical reports. He has received the National Science Foundation prestigious faculty CAREER Award (1996), Florida State University System of Florida Teaching Incentive Award (1996), NASA Technology Transfer Tech Briefs Award (1997), University of Central Florida Presidential Award for Special Merit and National Recognition (1997), University of Cincinnati Honor Roll Professor Award (2000), and University of Cincinnati Young Researcher of the Year Award (2001). He has also been cited in Marquis Who's Who in the World & Marquis Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
