Gulnara Patricia Borja-Cabrera
Gulnara Patricia Borja-Cabrera earned the M.D. degree in medicine and surgery of the Ecuador Central University (1983), the M.S. degree (1995), and the Ph.D. degree (2000) in pathology from the Federal Fluminense University (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). She was a Postdoctoral Fellow of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and Federal University of Minas Gerais. She served as a Visitant Professor of the Paulo de Góes Microbiology Institute of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiio (2006-2010). She was actively involved in the development of the first second-generation licensed vaccine against canine visceral leishmaniasis Leishmune(R) and in the development of a third-generation vaccine against the disease. She works currently as a Full-Time Professor at the UNIVALE University. She has experience in immunological, parasitological, and molecular techniques used in diagnosis and vaccination.
