M. Cengiz Altan
M. Cengiz Altan has been a Presidential Professor of aerospace and mechanical engineering at University of Oklahoma, Norman, Okla, USA from 2006 till present. He has been also a Professor of aerospace and mechanical engineering, University of Oklahoma from 2004 till present. From 1995 till 2004, he was an Associate Professor of aerospace and mechanical engineering, University of Oklahoma and was an Assistant Professor of the same field at the same university from 1989 till 1995. Professor Altan received the Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Delaware, Newark, Del, USA in 1989 and the B.S. degree in the same field in 1989 from the Middle East Technical University (METU), Turkey in 1985. His research interests include the manufacturing of composite materials, design, processing, and characterization of nanocomposites, non-Newtonian fluid mechanics, and polymer processing. Dr. Altan leads the Composite Materials Research Group at the University of Oklahoma. Composite Materials Research Group has received more than $5M of research funding from federal and state governments as well as from several public and private companies during the last two decades. Research sponsorship has been obtained from U.S. Air Force; National Science Foundation; Department of Defense; NASA; Seagate Technologies; SIAC; Trinity Inc, among others. Dr. Altan holds two patents on curing of composite materials and received the Technology Development Recognition Award at the University of Oklahoma. He has more than 100 publications in archival journals and in leading conference proceedings. He has lectured in numerous countries including, Japan, Korea, Russia, Brazil, Italy, England, Canada, and Turkey. He has served as the Chair of the ASME Materials Processing Committee and currently serves in the Executive Committee of the International Polymer Processing Society.
