Sanjay Batra was born in Kanpur in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India on the 25th of December 1964. He received the M.S. degree in biochemistry from the Lucknow University, India in 1986 and the Ph.D. degree in biochemistry (chemistry) from the Central Drug Research Institute (Kanpur University) in 1992. He then took the position of Biochemist, in charge of the Biochemistry Department at Kalawati Saran Children’s Hospital, New Delhi, India in 1993. His contributions in the field of clinical biochemistry were recognized internationally. Dr. Batra received Regional Service Award in the field of clinical biochemistry during 1997 and 1998 at the 8th Asian Pacific Congress of Clinical Biochemistry, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Bursary Award for his contributions during 1998 and 1999 at XVII International Congress of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC-World Lab), Firenze, Italy. He is also a Qualified Assessor of the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories of India since 1999. He is an Ad Hoc Reviewer for The Journal of Postgraduate Medicine (Biochemistry) and the International Journal of Biomedical Science. Dr. Batra has published around fifty research articles in many journals of international repute including Journal of Biological Chemistry, Journal of Immunology, Molecular Cancer Therapeutics, Cancer Chemotherapy and Pharmacology, British Journal of Cancer, Carcinogenesis, and American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology. Currently, Dr. Batra works as a Senior Research Associate at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA and his field of interest is lung inflammation and cancer. Two of his recent research articles have also been featured in the Journal of Immunology and Nutrition Frontiers, respectively.
