Pierre-Henri Gouyon

Pierre-Henri Gouyon serves as a Professor at the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle, at AgroParisTech and at Sciences Po (Paris), Head of the « Botany » team within the lab Origine, Structure & Évolution de la Biodiversité, UMR 7205 MNHN-CNRS. He was born on December 25, 1953. He received an M.S. degree in agronomy (engineer) in 1975, Ph.D. degree in ecology (Montpellier) in 1976, Ph.D. in genetics (Paris) in 1978, D.S. degree (Montpellier) in 1982 and M.S. degree in philosophy (Montpellier) in 1984. He serves as an Assistant Professor in genetics in the AgroParisTech in 1976, then Full Professor at Université de Paris-Sud (Orsay) from1988 to 2005 and at École Polytechnique from 1994 to 2008 (Vice President of the Department of Biology 2001-2006). He held diverse responsibilities at the scientific direction of CNRS (Deputy Director for Life Sciences in 2000-2001). He serves as a Member of Ethics Committees in CNRS and INSERM and of diverse scientific committees, as a Managing Editor of the Journal of Evolutionary Biology (1992-1996), Responsible for the M.S. thesis "Développement Agricole Durable" and Director of the lab UPS-CNRS-ENGREF d’Écologie, Systématique et Évolution" (1997-2005). He was elected at the Academia Europaea (Londres) in 2008. He is experienced in population genetics and evolutionary biology in the domains of evolution of sex, levels of selection, metapopulation genetics, in relation with dispersal, risks with GMO’s dispersal, Pollen morphogenesis, selection versus constraints.
