Murat Olukman has been working at the Department of Medical Pharmacology, Ege University Faculty of Medicine, Izmir, Turkey, as an Assistant Professor in a permanent position since 2005. He graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 1994. Then, he worked in the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery as a Research Assistant for one year and completed his residency education in pharmacology between 2001 and 2005. His thesis is about PPAR-alpha receptor and its effects on diabetic endothelial dysfunction. The research topic Olukman has recently focused on is urotensin-II peptide (one of the most potent vasoactive peptides) and its receptor. Mainly, he is working on the relationship of these peptides with diabetic vascular complications. In this respect, he has worked with Professor Mark Cooper at Department of Diabetic Complications, Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute, in Melbourne, VIC, Australia for one year between 2008 and 2009. He has got some articles that are published in prestigious journals.
