Dr. Mehdi Rajabi, is a post-doctoral research fellow in PET Radiochemistry/Synthetic Organic Chemistry at Department of PET-Radiochemistry, Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca, San Gerardo Hospital, Milano, Italy (from beginning of June 2012). I am involving on synthesis and biological evaluation of new radiopharmaceuticals (carbon-11 and fluorine-18 radiotracers) for use in biomedical imaging technique positron emission tomography (PET). I also spent one year and half as post-doctoral research fellow in organic Chemistry at Università del Piemonte Orientale A. Avogadro, Italy starting from January 2011 (January 2011-May 2012 ). I completed my Ph.D in Molecular Medicine at Milan State University (Dec 2010), Milan, Italy and worked on design and synthesis of different analogues of anticancer drugs (Structure Activity Relationship) and evaluation of their antiproliferative effects, cell cycle analysis, DNA damage with different mammalian cancer cell lines such as MCF-7, MDAMB231, HCT15, HT29, MKN45, HELA, PC3. I received my Master degree in Organic Chemistry from Tehran Azad University, Iran and worked on a comparative study of FTIR and UV–Vis spectroscopic analysis of DNA, RNA and serum albumin interactions with flavonoids which are natural polyphynolic compounds with major antioxidant activity that can prevent DNA damage. The anticancer and antiviral activities of these natural products are attributed to their potential biomedical applications.
