Lecturer of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering, Faculty of Chemistry, Complutense University of Madrid since 1989. Her teaching activity has been focused on the field of Chemical Metallurgy, with special emphasis on Corrosion and Extractive Metallurgy. Her research activity began with the Ph.D. thesis (1986) about the hydrometallurgy of mercury. Nowadays her research background extends to the study in the field of Hydrometallurgy and more specifically in Biohydrometallurgy with special mention to different topics related to bioleaching, biosorption, acid rock drainage, and bioremediation of soils. The research has been financed by more than 40 projects at either national or international level. In these topics, she has supervised six Ph.D. works and several research and undergraduate projects.. In her research curriculum she counts with more than hundred works in scientific journals and a similar number of communications to national and international symposiums. Among others, she received the National Prize of “Novel Researchers” awarded by the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry.
