Mohammad S. Ab-Rahman
Mohammad Syuhaimi began his career at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), in mid-2007 as a lecturer and appointed as a senior lecturer in early 2008 as well as a Programme Coordinator for the Bachelor of Microelectronic Engineering. In January 2010, he was appointed as Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Systems. Now, he is the Professor in the same department. His research is in the area of optical communications system and Photonic Technology and currently he is leading Spectrum Technology Research Group (SPECTECH) at UKM, Malaysia. Now he is in supervising 35 students of which 16 of them are PhD students. Over two and a half years in UKM he has produced more than 200 journal articles and over 150 articles of proceedings. A total of 3 articles had been awarded as the international best papers award. Three chapters in international research book had already published and two more books are expected to publish in 2010, titled as 'Research Management Module' and 'Maximize Technical Publications'. He is also active in the international innovation competition and has secured 15 awards in local and international level. At the same time he was also filling 10 patents of research prototypes. During his tenure at UKM, he was appointed as the appraiser grants Industrial Grant Scheme (IGS) and was involved in giving advice to the Ministry of Health in the assessment of the use of Long Range Acoustic Device (LRAD) before they are brought into Malaysia. He is also active in giving motivational talks to university students as well as speakers for Malaysia Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) to guide the new lecturers/researchers in conducting research. Since the year 2007, he has led more than 8 research projects with a cumulative value reaches 1.5 million grant.
