Gregory T. Spear

Gregory T. Spear received his Ph.D. degree in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1984. He undertook a postodoctoral fellowship in the Department of Human Oncology with Dr. Ernest Borden at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin to study the effects of interferons on the immune system between 1985 and 1986. He was also a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Pharmacological and Physiological Sciences at the University of Chicago with Dr. Mark Gurney from 1987 to 1988 where he studied the effects of neurotrophic factors on the immune system. He became an Assistant Professor at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Ill, USA, in 1988 where he is currently a Full Professor in the Department of Immunology/Microbiology. Dr. Spear is currently a member of the NIH AIDS SBIR Biological Sciences Study Section and is Deputy Editor of the journal AIDS Research and Therapy.
