Jane Zochling studied medicine at the University of Tasmania, qualifying as a consultant clinical rheumatologist in 2000. She obtained her M.S. degree (clinical epidemiology) in 2003 and her Ph.D. degree in osteoporosis in the frail institutionalized elderly in 2004 through the University of Sydney. She then spent almost 3 years in Herne, Germany, working in ankylosing spondylitis with world-renowned clinician and researcher Professor Juergen Braun. She now runs an independent research team at the Menzies Research Institute Tasmania, looking at early spondyloarthritis and changes on MRI, and scleroderma with particular reference to cardiovascular disease in collaboration with the Royal Hobart Hospital Cardiology Department.
