Ozgur Karcioglu was born in Aydin, Turkey, in 1969 and graduated from Ege University Medical School, Izmir, Turkey in 1993. In 1994, he started his residency at the Department of Emergency Medicine, Dokuz Eylul University, Izmir, Turkey. He has been working as a Faculty Member since September 1998 at Department of Emergency Medicine, Dokuz Eylul University Medical School. He completed the Fellowship Program at the Department of Emergency Medicine, International Emergency Medicine Pennsylvania State University in 2005. He served as the Chairman of the department in DEU between 2005 and 2007. He was in charge of the ED of Istanbul Bakirkoy Research and Training Hospital between 2007 and 2009. He also served as a Faculty Member at the Department of Emergency Medicine, Acibadem University Medical School in 2009. Seventy-one of his articles were published or accepted in international peer-reviewed journals and 57 in national ones. He has contributed in three books and a total of ten chapters. Moreover, Dr. Karcioglu has given lectures and joined educational activities in various symposia and seminars. He is also serving as a Member of the Editorial Board or an Associate Editor of some Turkish journals as well as The Journal of Trauma and Emergency Surgery, The Journal of Emergency Medicine, and Trauma and Acute Care. Under Dr. Karcioglu supervision, twenty-three research projects have been conducted as specialty graduation thesis in his department so far. He has also been serving as a Member of the Commission for the Fifth and Sixth Year Medical Students’ Curriculum and the Committee for Active Medical Education. Dr. Karcioglu has worked as the Associate Director of the eight-week training program of management of trauma victims embedded in task-based learning sessions in fifth year pregraduate medical curriculum.
