Guglielmina Froldi was born in Ceresara (MN), Italy, in 1961. She received the Pharmacist degree (summa cum laude) and the Pharmacology and Toxicology Ph.D. degree from the University of Padova, Italy, in 1984 and 1991, respectively. Since 1985, Froldi is with the Pharmaco-Physiology Laboratory of Department of Pharmacology and Anaesthesiology, University of Padua. In 1988 and 1989, she was a Research Assistant with L. Belardinelli group, at the Division of Cardiology JHMHC, Department of Medicine, University of Florida (USA). In 1992, she was an Academic Researcher in pharmacology, Faculty of Pharmacy. Presently, she is an Associate Professor of pharmacology and pharmacognosy. The scientific activity is documented by more than 55 manuscripts published in international journals, and more than 110 proceedings. The editorial work consists of 10 chapters relating to topics of pharmacognosy, pharmacology, and toxicology. The main scientific topics include detection, isolation, and structure determination of bioactive compounds from medicinal plants with studies of structure-activity; antioxidant activity of natural compounds; ethnopharmacology of herbal drugs traditionally used for hypoglycemic, hypotensive, antiviral activities (i.e., Croton Lechleri Casimiroa edulis and Momordica charantia).
