Thierry Busso has been graduated in 1985 in biological engineering from University of Technology of Compiègne, France. Since 1986, he has joined the Laboratory of Physiology at the University of Saint-Etienne, France. He received the Ph.D. degree and the qualification for research supervision in 1991 and 1995, respectively. After a 1-year postdoctoral position at the University of Oxford (UK), he has been working at the Department of Physical Education in the University of Saint-Etienne, since 1996. He was appointed as a Professor in 1998 and is working now in the Laboratory of Exercise Physiology. He is presently mainly interested in mathematical modeling of the control of muscle metabolism focusing on energetics and balance between protein synthesis and degradation in health and disease.
