"Dr Luis Castilla-Guerra is currently a Senior Specialist (Medical Doctor) in the Department of Internal Medicine in the Hospital de la Merced of Osuna (Seville), Spain. He also works at the Hypertension & Vascular Risk Unit in the same Hospital. He has obtained his Physician Doctor Degree in 1998 (University of Seville). He has also obtained a Master in Gerontology in 2005-2006 (UNED-University of Madrid) and a Master in Cardiovascular Medicine in 2010-2011 (University of Barcelona). He is an Associate Professor at the University of Seville since 2009.
Dr Castilla-Guerra has published numerous originals and review articles in the area of stroke and vascular risk factors. He is the author of more than 50 journal articles and has contributed more than 15 chapters to edited books. His main research interests are stroke prevention, vascular risk factors and stroke, and neurogeriatrics.
He is member of the Advisory Committee of the Andalusian Stroke Strategy. He has served as a Peer Reviewer for several nationals and internationals journals: Stroke, International Journal of Stroke, Epilepsia, Current Gerontology and Geriatrics Research, Revista de Neurologia and Revista espaƱola de Geriatria y Gerontologia. He is also reviewer of the Clinical Practice Guideline for Primary and Secondary Prevention of Stroke (clinical practice guidelines in the National Health System. Spanish Ministry of Healthcare and Consumer Affairs).
Dr Castilla-Guerra has given several national and international conferences and he has also received several national and international awards.
