Bert De Vries
Bert De Vries grew up in Utrecht, The Netherlands. He received the M.E. degree in electrical engineering from the Technical University Eindhoven in 1986 and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Florida in 1991. From 1992 until 1999 he worked as a `Member Technical Staff' at Sarnoff Research Center in Princeton, NJ. At Sarnoff, he contributed to research projects over a wide range of signal and image processing topics such as word spotting, financial market prediction, and breast cancer detection from mammograms. Since April 1999, he has been employed in the hearing aids industry, currently at GN ReSound as a Principal Scientist and he also serves as Manager of External Research. His current research interest focuses on developing Bayesian machine learning techniques for tuning a hearing aid algorithm to the specific needs of a patient. Since January 2004, he spends part of his time as a Research Fellow in the Signal Processing Systems Group at the Technical University Eindhoven.
