Venugopal Nair

Venugopal Nair obtained the B.A. Degree in veterinary and animal sciences from the Kerala Agricultural University, Trichur, India in 1976. After obtaining a Ph.D. degree in veterinary medicine from the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Chennai, India in 1987, Professor Nair worked at the Institute of Virology and Environmental Microbiology, Oxford as a Postdoctoral Scientist during the period from 1989 to 1994. He joined the Institute for Animal Health (IAH) in Compton in 1994 and has since been carrying out research on oncogenic viruses in poultry. Professor Nair is currently the Head of the Avian Infectious Diseases Programme at IAH, and he has special interest in the molecular mechanisms of cancer induced by oncogenic viruses. He has served as the Editor of Avian Pathology, and he is also a Visiting Professor at Imperial College London and a Jenner Investigator at Oxford University.
