Elena Gonzalez-Rey received her Ph.D. degree in molecular biology from the University of Granada, Spain. Since 2003, she received postdoctoral training at different research institutions in Spain and USA. During these years, she has characterized new anti-inflammatory neuropeptides and described their immunomodulatory role in some inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. She serves currently as a Researcher at the Institute of Parasitology and Biomedicine (CSIC), Spain. Her main research focus is to investigate endogenous factors with a potential regulatory effect able to keep the balance between immune tolerance and immunity to pathogens as well as the molecular and cellular mechanisms involved.
