Enrique Berjano received the M.S. degree in electronics engineering in 1994 and the Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering in 1999 from Universitat Politècnica de València, València, Spain. Currently, he is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electronic Engineering at Universitat Politècnica de València. He has published more than 60 scientific papers in the field of biomedical engineering. His research interests include biomedical instrumentation, radiofrequency heating of biological tissues, and engineering teaching. He is a Member of the advisory board of Computational and Mathematical Methods in Medicine, The Open Biomedical Engineering Journal, Journal of Medical Engineering, and Journal of Advances in Biomedical Engineering and Technology. From 1994, Dr. Berjano has been a Consultant for medical technology companies. In 2010, he founded Apeiron Medical, a startup focused on surgical devices based on energy for ablative therapies. Dr. Berjano is a Member of the Spanish Society of Surgical Research (SEIQ) and the European Society for Engineering Education (SEFI).
