Olivier Jousson was born in May 12, 1972 (Geneva, Switzerland). Since 2007, he has been serving as an Associate Professor of General Microbiology, Faculty of Science, University of Trento, Italy, where he started working as a Visiting Professor. From 2004 to 2006, he served as a Contract Professor at the Department of Animal Pathology, University of Pisa, Italy, with the Program “Rientro dei Cervelli” from the Italian Ministry of Instruction, University and Research (MIUR). From 2001 to 2003, he worked as a Research Associate, Dermatology Service, University Hospital Lausanne (CHUV), Switzerland. He worked with the Swiss National Science Foundation Project (1997–2001) to achieve a Ph.D. degree in biology, with thesis “in cotutelle” supported by the Rector’s Conference of the Swiss Universities (CRUS), University of Geneva, Switzerland, and University of the Mediterranean, Marseille, France. Between 1995 and 1997, he worked to obtain an M.S. degree in biology, ERASMUS Program, from the University of Geneva, Switzerland, and University of the Mediterranean, Marseille, France. From 1992 to 1995, he worked on a B.S. degree in biology from the University of Geneva, Switzerland. His research interests are among genomics and genetics of human pathogenic microorganisms (bacteria, fungi), molecular diagnostics of pathogenic microbes, and molecular biology and evolution of parasites. He has been teaching general microbiology and organismic biology for B.S. students in biotechnology at the University of Trento, Italy. He serves as the Director of B.S. Program in Biotechnology, Faculty of Science, University of Trento, Italy.
