Violeta Makareviciene was born in Vilnius, Lithuania, in 1959. She received the M.S. degree and Chemist qualification from Vilnius University in 1982 and Doctor of Technological Sciences degree from Lithuanian University of Agriculture in 2001. From 1987 to 2002, Makareviciene was Research Fellow of Laboratory of Chemical and Biochemical Research for Environmental Technology at Lithuanian University of Agriculture. From 2002 to date, she has been Senior Research Fellow of Laboratory of Chemical and Biochemical Research for Environmental Technology at Lithuanian University of Agriculture and from 2008 the Head of Laboratory. From 2002 to 2008, Makareviciene was an Assistant Professor of Department of Chemistry at Lithuanian University of Agriculture and from 2008 Professor of the Department of Chemistry. She is mainly interested in biosystem engineering and environment: biofuel and biolubricant production from renewable raw materials, biofuel quality and application in transport sector, and influence on environment (life cycle analysis, biological decomposition, exhaust emissions). Makareviciene is Coordinator of international research projects and Member of TC 44 Animal and Vegetable Oils and Their Byproducts at Lithuanian Standard Board.
